Clutch Replacement or Repair

While driving your car, you adjust to noises, vibrations and the overall feel of the car in different gears. If Any changes in these sensations occur, this may indicate the beginning of a problem. It is important to note what gear you are in, at what speeds these problems may occur, what the noise level is and whether it disappears from one gear to another. Most problems with the clutch and transmission usually require a full Clutch Replacement or a service.

The most common problem people experience with clutches is the wearing of the friction material on the disc. The friction material on a clutch disc is very similar to the friction material on the pads of a disc brake. Over time, it will wear away. When most or all of the friction material has worn away, the clutch will start to slip, and will eventually stop transmiting power from the engine to the wheels. If this Problem is not seen to asap. the consequences could involve a full Clutch replacement or expensive repair.

The wearing of the clutch occurs when the clutch disc and the flywheel are rotating at different speeds. When they are locked together, the friction material is held tightly against the flywheel, and they spin in sync. It’s only when the clutch disc is slipping against the flywheel that wearing actually occurs. If you are the type of driver who slips the clutch a lot, you’ll wear out your clutch a lot faster, which could lead to an expensive Clutch Replacement or repair

Occasionally the problem is not with clutch slipping, but with sticking. If your clutch won’t release properly, it will continue to turn the input shaft. This can cause grinding, or completely prevent your car from going into gear.
